Join the Bobblehead George crew for a behind the scenes look inside of Montpelier, the home of the "Father of the Constitution" and the fourth president of the United States, James Madison. Come along with Mr. Raymond, Mr. Graham, and Mr. Gimbi as they give you access to the interior of the mansion and walk you through the rooms of Montpelier and tell the stories of rooms, the mansion, and the people who lived, visited, and labored there.

James Madison's Montpelier Plantation was the home to as many as six generations of African Americans (over 300 individuals) held as property by the Madison family. These people labored every single day to create and sustain the wealth and privilege enjoyed by the Madison's. Each enslaved person at Montpelier was a unique human being with his or her own talents, flaws, hopes, and fears.

The Gilmore Cabin opened to the public in 2005 and stands as the only preserved and interpreted freedman’s home in the United States. As a site built during Reconstruction, Gilmore Cabin serves to teach the public about the legacies of slavery in America including political status, land ownership, and economic production.

The Bobblehead George crew will explain three main stages in the evolution of Montpelier, starting with the original home built in the 1760s, moving to the first expansion of the mansion 35 years later, and the finally the third expansion of Montpelier...which turned the mansion into a home fit for a president!

Join the Bobblehead George crew for a look at Montpelier Station located in Orange County, Virginia.  The 1910 Train Depot gives visitors a glimpse into the African American struggle for Civil Rights. The train station, preserved to represent what it would have looked like during the Jim Crow era, is located adjacent to the gates of James Madison's Montpelier. ​
